The Christmas Slug in colour

Designed for Christmas Mascot Competition.


This is the giant Christmas Slug. He has a huge underground network of tunnels by which he reaches every person’s house in the entire world. His nest is somewhere deep beneath the soil, where he sits and prepares for the next year’s Christmas. When Christmas finally comes around, he quickly moves through his network and bursts through the floor in everyone’s houses, quickly spitting out their presents from where he keeps them deep in his humungous stomach (he is a very, very long slug) before quickly retreating through his hole and onto the next house. This has led to many people being angry since he leaves a giant hole in their floor with a gaping tunnel beneath, however most people forgive him because he leaves them such nice presents, and some people even build the hole up nice and proper, with a brick lining and a ‘welcome’ mat by the hole.

The Christmas Slug loves people and especially children. Why else would he spend all his time making and distributing such lovely gifts? He has only ever once partially squashed a child, bringing him much distress, after the family renovated their house and he went through his usual hole-space only to discover it was now the kitchen and the child was on their way to get a glass of milk for him, no less. Ever since then he has been especially careful before joyfully bursting through his hole in the ground.

The Christmas Slug also has a string of Christmas lights around him, simply because he accidentally came up through someone’s Christmas tree (before the child-incident) and could not un-entagle himself from the lights. They have since become crushed into his skin, and light up purely due to his joyous energy.
